Baseball update: if he doesn't retire at the end of this year, which at this point it seems there's absolutely no reason for him to do, Barry Bonds will almost certainly take another all time record within a year and a half. At 1949 walks, Bonds stands a mere 230 short Rickey Henderson's all time record of 2179. And realize, while Henderson may still TECHNICALLY be an active ball player, he was entirely unable to land a major league job during the offseason despite incredible efforts to get one more season. Also important is that Bonds -shattered- his own single season walk record last season, with a whopping 198 walks. In one season.

So yeah. It's totally plausible he could break the record THIS year, and it's a virtual certainty that he'll pass the next guy (Ted Williams), and most likely the one after (Babe Ruth). That would only require 120 walks, something Bonds has done consistently for the last three seasons. Oh yeah, and do I have to point out he hit 73 home runs during one of those seasons? Chances of his walk count going significantly down: roughly equvilent to the chances of Rod Beck winning the Cy Young award.
