So tonight, or specifically this morning, we're going to explain Undressed. Why I like it, why I watch it, and why MTV is uncancelling it.
Let's start with what was the first and most obvious attraction: a show who's cast is -specifically- chosen based on their appearance, outward sexuality, and penchant for nudity. Girls and guys alike sweat this show for the exact same reason. It's hot, really hot.
Then there's the complete and utter lack of acting. Some might call this a failure; I call it a benefit. Because half the time, if a girl is saying "I didn't get it... I didn't realize I really loved you!" or the guy's going on about how "I just said those things to try and convince myself... I was trying to convince myself I hated you so I could move on" ...... hey, it's bullshit. If they acted well and sold those lines, we'd get confused. Half the fun of Undressed is that everybody's horny so nobody CARES where the bullshit ends and the truth begins.
Then there are the varying storylines. For those of you who don't watch Undressed (you fools), there are generally 3ish storylines going at once (Tonight there were three exactly, during any one episode). What's more, each storyline contains a different age group. There's your high school storyline, generally in the 16-18 age range, a college storyline (Always set at the same school, and everyone's dorm rooms are identical. Hmm........), and a twenty somethings storyline. Something for everyone! Plus to be honest, it's nice to be able to appreciate the high school Junior (damn was she hot... this time it was the case of a junior punk rebel type who fell in love with a senior prep. But damn, was she hot as hell) and the slew of sorority girls thrown into the mix. Mmmmmm....
What's more, if you get sick of a storyline (for some reason the twentysomethings are always the worst; probably because if you're a hot actress in your late twentys and you're -still- not employed by even a cheap soap, you must really suck) you can just channel surf during that one. Without fail, two minutes later you'll have new people to watch.
All in all, it's good shit. And MTV is bringing it back for another season. Happy days are we.
