"In fact, I wasnt even tired enough at the finish, I left too much in the pool"
I think what you meant is that you didn't leave enough, since the term is usually "leave it all in the water," but that's not the point.
Doesn't that fucking SUCK? That kind of thing can happen in athletics, academics, and almost anywhere - when you go in not expecting to do well, and then suddenly find yourself doing well, and end better off than you expected - but CERTAIN you could have done better?
It's kinda weird to be proud of yourself for succeeding and dissapointed in yourself for not doing your best at the same time.
I had that feeling at conference. Yes, I set my personal best marks by huge margins, but no... when I got out of the water, I knew I could have pulled harder.
The difference Chris is you have more practice to do. And eventually you'll have your first meet, to REALLY fucking whip it out. And I know you're not going to take your not working hard enough lightly. Maybe it's good that you didn't feel tired enough this time, because it'll focus you enough to leave EVERYTHING in the water against your first competitor.
Make it up - cause I don't get a chance to, and I'd appreciate it.
