Per my blog about Doctors - re-reading it, I realize I made a very blatant and insulting mistake. When I said doctors, most people think medical practitioners. I meant medical researchers.
You make hundreds of times as much money off of an AIDS cocktail as off of an HIV vaccine. Not to say I don't think companies aren't working on HIV vaccines - they are, I know. But it just blows my mind that it can't be done with the amount of money being poured into it. The toughest call of course is the balance between the research to help people now, and the research for a cure fastest.
I'm not sure EXACTLY what I think about the issue.
Especially important is the fact that the HIV/AIDS example I just made up is just that - an example. The conversation actually had more in general to do with psychiatric patients. With a friend who's on prozac, and now is tied to a prescription string for the rest of her life.
It's not the kind of thing you can just stop. I guess the last blog, which I admitted was ranting and such, wasn't too clear. This one isn't perfect either. But at least I could explain, a bit
