Last baseball blog, I swear.... well, for a least half an hour.

Today, Dmitri Young gave one of the most amazing performances by a hitter of versitility of recent years. More AMAZINGLY... he became likely the only player recently to have clearly documented evidence that he gave up personal glory for the good of his team.

Young went 5 for 5 today, with the following hits in order:

1: Home run
2: Triple
3: Home run
4: Single
5: Triple

For those of you counting, no, he did not hit for the cycle - he missed the double, because he overran second and went to third. In what turned out to be the game winning RBI hit (Young would be stranded by his teammates), Young wrote himself into history by becoming one of CERTAINLY very few players who voluntarily gave up hitting for the cycle. I'm gonna try and make it a point to email PTI or something about this tomorrow, and hopefully I might make it on. Maybe some stat guru. Actually, realistically, a stat guru will mention it if it's ever been done before and I'll be able to Google it tomorrow.
