Last night was fucked up. Real fucked up.
Congradulations to the nibs, initiation (and your class itself) is the only part of last night that went well.
Now I need to say something for one person.
This blog is a public forum for my own personal writing, my feelings, and my thoughts. If you don't like them, don't read it. If you're going to ignore or disrespect my feelings - especially the very, very personal ones I've been known to put here - you can fuck off. You're already one of the most blatantly disrespectful and prejudiced people I have ever met, and it disgusts me. I feel foul every time that touches me, and last night's bullshit was part of that. We are not going to talk about it, because when I speak to you at no point in time do you show any sign that you have understood what I am saying. You're not dumb. Which means you COULD understand if you gave a shit. This disgusts me.
I'm not gonna waste my time anymore.
The saddest part is that the other five instinctively take your side. I wish I knew why, because when they try and talk to me privately they seem to act like they understand. But in public they're as fast to turn on me as anyone, and that fucking hurts. Makes it pretty clear that the talk we had was bullshit - at no point did you guys ever want me to be part of it. That's another blog to be had though.

Neccessity is far less the mother of invention than it is the mother of ability.
It's 6:15 AM as I start this, and I'm roughly 2/3 of the way through an all nighter to finish a SHITLOAD of work I have for today. Some of it I badly procrastinated... some of it was assigned yesterday... some of it I attempted to get done earlier and failed. Either way, here I am pulling a pretty high load all nighter, but really nothing I'm not usually capable of.
Except usually I do it with food, water, soda, and juice. Niceties to keep the body going. But there's a pledge sleeping in front of refridgerator - yeah, it's a long fucking story and I'm not quite sure how it happened either. But there is, and I'm not gonna wake him up just so I can get to a twelve pack of Coke. So I've spent the last five hours caffeine free, food free, running only on water. And I've finished the bigger of my two papers (the second isn't even worth calling a paper - it's a book report, 3-5 pages, on a book I actually enjoyed about the corruption of the justice system and its integration into organized crime in 1960's Seattle, which serves as a model for all most other areas at the time). My work is completely under control, especially once I throw Eric and the other pledges out (they have to leave a quarter of 8, not by my decision).
Oh shit. I just remembered I have to be at least 90% concious until like 1 AM due to a commitment I forgot about. This is going to be a fucking FUN day. There are three good things in my favor though that will make it actually fun:
1) After today, I have no single day when two other major things are due, except for my sociology extra credit paper (3-4 pages on Jackie Robinson, another cool subject) which coincides with my last test - a non cumulative exam on the second half of the semester. My last Criminal Justice test is the day after that as is my italian oral, but both should be easy. My italian final is on the 5th, and my CS final project is due as late as the 10th. I'll be home some time around then. This was the hardest night, and I'm about 2/3 through it.
2) The weather is supposed to be nice.
3) If I've made it this far and this well without food and caffeine, the extra boost is gonna be like Liquid Schwartz.
Time to pop the gas tank.

Ok Chris, after your exceptional list of annoying gym stereotypes, I've decided to offer up some of my own people in classes that annoy me.
The unfair advantage: this person has either basically taken the class before, or for some reason knows all the material. Reference - a 5th year spanish speaker taking my italian class. This person convinces the professor that is the fault of the rest of the class that we know nothing, when really this individual is cheating.
The sheltered, jappy girl: This is mostly a problem in my sociology classes. This is the girl who has absolutely no perception of the troubles of people without money. When asked about discrimination, the only thing that will come to mind is women's rights. Attempting to converse with her about race leaves her baffled. This girl is a love/hate relationship because she is almost invariably hot, and as the weather warms wearing less and less.
The workaholic: This student, feeling the "need to get the most out of class money," gets angry and repulsive when students attempt to lighten a class with humor. This student invariably feels morally superior to you, which you know for a fact to be untrue. This student often has trouble in class because he or she is incapable of actually thinking.
The requestioner: This student asks lots of questions. Not generally a problem, except that every question this student asks has been answered within the last five minutes - either directly, in the form of another student's question, or during lecture. This student is a complete and utter waste of time, and makes us all dumber.
The inept TA: Technically not a fellow student of mine, this graduate student is put in charge of a recitation for a class that the university feels is "expendable" - such as an introductory Physics course at a university known for political science and international affairs. This TA has absolutely NO idea what he is doing, either within the subject, as a teacher, or both. This is often coupled with a poor grasp on the english language. Warning signs are failure to solve a problem assigned by the professor, unwitting repetition of material from week to week, and answering questions students didn't ask.
I'm sure I could think of more, but I've got to get to class. With that damn unfair advantage.

You know, I never really figured something out - for a starting pitcher to get the win in a baseball game he has to pitch a minimum of 4 2/3 innings (more than half the game). But in relief, whoever just pitched when the team goes ahead goes in line for the win, even if he only pitches one out. So concievably, if you started the game with a guy from the bullpen to pitch the first inning, your "starter" could then get the win if he was in for the lead regardless of how long he went. Very odd.
I honestly expected to see Kim, Ruben and Clay in the final three. They should have been.
It's a day of great sadness.

In the event that a fan runs onto the field during a baseball game, 98% of players will be seen avoding the fans while security comes after them. This isn't surprising - this is what they are told to do, and legally what is in their best interests. Not only are these folks celebrities who may have people trying to hurt them, but more importantly if they get swung at and swing back it's really bad press. But I think the other day's incident with the White Sox shows us a trend in baseball which I appreciate.
"After the White Sox grabbed a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning on Frank Thomas? home run to left, another fan raced on to the field and tried to grab first base umpire Laz Diaz as he was signaling the inning?s final out down the right field line. Before the fan could do any damage, Kansas City right fielder Brandon Berger and first baseman Mike Sweeney wrestled him to the ground. "
Yes, you read that right - in basically the only major non-contact sport out there two major league players took matters into their own hands - as they damn well should have. Think about it - you've got four guys in this situation. A fan, who is an unknown but could be dangerous, an umpire, who's like 40 something at the least and not stereotypically in good shape, and two professional atheletes. Yes, this was the right thing to do for Diaz's sake - although Berger and Sweeney could theorhetically have been injured and damaged their own careers, they protected a defenseless umpire. Good for them.
I propose the following situation though, regarding fans running onto the field. One, you're stupid fucks. But two is something I'm going to refer to as the Clemens Rule of Justice. There is one player on the field at any given point in time who effectively has a gun in his hand - the pitcher. So I propose that from now on, while waiting for security to apprehend fans on the field, the pitcher on the field winds up and fires the hardest strike he can at the offender. I honestly would not be surprised to see Clemens do this, but I think he's basically the only person in baseball badass enough to do it. Pedro and Johnson are likely seconds, but for fuck's sake, think about it. You don't even have to throw at this guy's head, which is good because you might kill him. But if you're running around stupidly on the field and suddenly you get a 95 mile per hour fastball in the side, you're basically done. Probably got a broken rib too.
And that's what you get. Baseball games are long enough as it is without idiots, and I propose the Clemens Rule of Justice go into effect immediately.

wow I've got a lot of paintball pain. it was a great, great fucking day though - the weather was gorgeous, I came out of the gates ROARING (10 or 11 kills, I wasn't really counting, in the first 3 games before I slowed down to a human pace), and the arbitrary teams we decided on actually turned out to be exceptionally fair - over 13 games we went 7-6. Each team had its strengths and weaknesses and it was a phenomenal day.
Oh, for those of you with any paintball experience... I also set a personal record with 26 welts - 14 of which were "good" ones. And no, they don't really hurt. Not like... actual hurt. It's honestly closer to "wow I had a good workout" hurt. Endorphins flowing.

I came in tonight with new friends, new names, new numbers, a date to formal who I've been trying to get for a while, and 4 hours until I have to wake up for paintball.
Fuck sleep, it was a good night.

#188: If you're in a war, instead of throwing a hand grenade at some guys, throw one of those little baby-type pumpkins. Maybe it'll make everyone think of how crazy war is, and while they're thinking, you can throw a real grenade.

Does it confuse anyone that 10 days into the season, the sox only having played 9 games, Hillenbrand has SIXTEEN RBIs??? Jesus christ this kid is coming out of the gates with ROCKET PACKS on trying to prove last year wasn't a fluke. Holy shit. He leads the major leagues by 2 over an established player by the name of Vernon Wells - and oddly enough the closest player of note is Kevin Millar, tied for 3rd place with 11... except he's the only one in the top 30 or so who isn't an everyday player. Manny only has 8, Nomar 7. Closest Yankee is Alfonso Soriano with 10 - this should baffle other people as well given that Soriano is the LEADOFF hitter.
What the FUCK?! I knew this was a fucked up season.

You know, I'm finally figuring out what confuses people about this whole greek thing. It never seemed weird to me, having brothers all across the country - I just hadn't met them yet, like when I pledged. I only knew like half the brothers when I decided to pledge, and I met the rest after I signed on.
It was very weird though to open up Mallory's profile and see "Delta Gamma *Anchor Slam* April 26th." Because today we start the DG Anchor Bowl here. It was weird when Katie pledged Kappa - check her profile though and you'll see what our Kappas here taught us. Suddenly these people that I've known for years and years are joining organizations that I've known for a different year. I knew DG entirely outside the context of home, and consequently Mallory. I knew Kappa as the group they are here, which is effectively completely seperate of Katie's chapter. I live down the hall from Kappas. Now Kate's talking about Kappa. I don't think I have to point out how odd that is.
... that part of me is what raises me above the bourgeois.
This has been the single most stressfull week I've had..... that I can remember. For reasons that simply couldn't be explained to anyone. No one can possibly understand all of it besides me, and that's what makes it the hardest.

All right, I certainly can't be accused of not liking one hit wonders - including this one specifically, so it's going to sound crazy to hear me say this.
In the last 36 hours, about 25 million people have been re-introduced to "Turn The Beat Around"
Having download and listened to the performance Carmen gave (and having WATCHED it... dear lord) .... I just listened to the original, and Carmen's back and forth. I think she outdid the single.
The point to be made though, is so did Gloria Estefan in her remake of it - and this was the track that Carmen was working off of. And Carmen was good... though I think her days on the show are numbered, despite the fact that I loved her energy. But she was no Gloria Estefan.

Hey, so you know I'm out of the loop when I miss the information that the new Metallica tour - Summer Sanitarium 2003, is coming to Gillete Stadium on July 6th - AND TICKETS HAVE BEEN ONSALE FOR SIX WEEKS!!!
Yeah. We can get shit for seats, but as anybody who knows anything about Foxboro concerts knows the point is to just get up and find your way onto the floor - floor seating is sold out, but you can always make it.
I need to know who wants to come with me kinda soon, since we need to get these tickets before they sell out. They are, and this sucks, a staggering $75 plus the ticketmaster service charge but the lineup is:
Metallica
Limp Bizkit
Linkin Park
The Deftones
Should be a great fucking show.
